What is the movie were aliens want to end the world because humans are destroying the world?

I was just thinking about this movie i forgot the name of it. I remember at the start some antarctic dude got something out of some glacier or something in the start of the movie and then I know I saw it in the theaters, I just dont know what movie it was. Anyone that know the name just let me know thanks thats all i need.
