How to know if bleach developer still works? 10 easy points!?

How do i know if my liquid developer still works cause ive had it for a few years and its a big bottle so i wouldnt want it to go to waste. Im going to retouch my roots soon but i dont want to mix ot with the powder then find out its not to strong so how do i know if it still works properly? Thanks :)
