How can a person in this...digital age....?

believe in something as old as the bible? The metaphors and explanations in it are from people that lived over 800 years ago, none the less they were terribly stupid compared to people now. They basically explain everything mystically and magically, similar to how a tribal man in the Amazon would explain some sort of technology that we posses. How does someone just believe such an old book like that?
